ST. CROIX — Police say emergency physicians had not determined whether a victim who was being treated for wounds sustained during a fight at the Aqua Lounge Nightclub early Saturday were caused by a gunshot or knife. But gunshots were fired, according to the victim, who told police that a gun was pointed to his face after involving himself in a fight with a group of men from Mon Bijou, who were apparently beating his friend.

The Consortium caught wind of the incident after multiple postings on social media, and sought more information from V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte.

According to Mr. Dratte, at about 3:44 a.m. that morning, the 911 emergency call center received notification of an incident that occurred at the Aqua Lounge Nightclub, possibly involving gunshots. Upon arrival to the scene, officials made contact with a witness, who stated that he saw individuals from Mon Bijou fighting the victim, and attempted to stop the scuffle. He said he did not see who injured the victim.

The victim said he saw his friend being battered by several individuals from Mon Bijou, and decided to enter the fracas. The victim added that during the melee, someone grabbed him and pointed a gun squarely in his direction, and then shots rang out. He said because there were many individuals around him, his ability to see who fired the shots was impeded. The victim said he did not know whether he was shot because he did not feel pain; being in the heat of the moment.

Police later spoke to the victim’s friend, who stated that he did not see what had happened to the victim.

Police are continuing their investigation into the matter, according to Mr. Dratte. The force is asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of those involved to call 340 712-6024, 911 or anonymous tip line Crime Stoppers VI at 1 800 222 tips.
