Gunfire Injures Female Victim In St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Police Department late Tuesday made known that a 24-year-old female victim was injured by gunfire Monday afternoon, but not much else was divulged about the incident.

According to Glen Dratte, the force’s public information officer, the victim, a Hispanic, sustained gunshot wounds to her upper shoulder, right ear and right cheek.

Officers were alerted by the 911 Emergency Call Center of the incident, and at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Monday, they traveled to the Roy Lester Schneider Medical Center where the victim was being treated for her wounds. Officers interviewed the 24-year-old and took pictures of her injuries, according to the release.

Details of what led to the victim’s injuries were not released.

Police are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of those involved to contact the V.I.P.D. at (340) 774-2211 or the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 714-9801. You can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477 or 911.

The case is presently under investigation by the Investigation Bureau, according to the release.
