ST. THOMAS — A woman was violently assaulted and raped in her own home this morning, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman made known via press release late Monday. The Consortium learned of the incident this morning from a well placed source, who said that the rape occurred early today in the Pillsbury Heights neighborhood here.

According to Ms. Freeman, contact was made with an adult female at the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center in regards to the sexual assault. The victim stated that she woke up at approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning and found an unknown male inside her residence that climbed on top of her with a gun pointed towards her face.

The victim further explained that while screaming, the suspect told her to shut up and struck her several times about the body with his gun. She concluded by stating that he sexually assaulted her and fled her residence immediately after.

The victim in this incident is currently being treated for injuries that she sustained during this assault, according to Ms. Freeman.

This incident is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau, according to the release. Police are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrator, to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext.5556 or ext.5557.
