Police Vehicle Shot In Christiansted

ST. CROIX — A police vehicle was shot at three times in Christiansted on Monday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Thursday.

According to Mr. Dratte, on Monday at about 9:54 p.m., a unit was dispatched to an assault incident at Church Apartments in Christiansted, when the incident occurred.

The officer stated that while he was about to leave the scene, which was at approximately 10:52 p.m., he heard three gunshots being discharged.

The officer immediately notified 911, and supporting police units descended on the area. They searched for suspects, witnesses and evidence. The affected discovered a bullet hole in the police vehicle that he was driving, according to Mr. Dratte.

According to the V.I.P.D., the incident is under investigation by Criminal Investigation Bureau. People with information that may lead to the arrest of suspects are being asked to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340 778-2211 or (340) 712 6106, the anonymous tip line, Crime Stoppers VI at 1 800 222 TIPS (8477), or 911.
