Crime / News / Virgin Islands / October 3, 2016

ST. CROIX — The St. Croix arm of the Virgin Islands Police Department has been on a roll in catching suspected criminals lately, announcing multiple arrests over the weekend, while issuing a separate release with the mugshots of three suspects, asking for the community’s assistance.

The string of arrests continued on Sunday, as two more suspects — wanted on suspected murder and first-degree robbery charges — were apprehended, while a third was arrested on an unlawful sexual contact charge.

Police arrested Kareem Mathias, aka “Stinky,” age 24, of Frederiksted for attempted murder. He was remanded to  the Golden Grove Correctional facility pending his advise-of-rights hearing, as no bail was set.

Police also arrested Robert Courtney Dion Bacsus, Jr., age 21, of Frederiksted, for first-degree robbery. Unable to make bail of $100,000, Mr. Bacsus was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility, pending his advise-of rights hearing.

In a separate warrant, Lennox P. Cabral, age 52 of Christiansted, was arrested for unlawful sexual contact. His bail was set at $150,000, and he was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending advise-of-rights hearing, after failing to pay the bail amount.

Still wanted as of Sunday, were suspects David George, Dasha Graham, and Ahmed Francis. Have you seen them? If so, police are asking for your help. Call the Criminal Investigations Bureau on St. Croix at (340) 778-2211 and the St. Thomas/St. John branch at (340)774-2211. You may also call Crime Stoppers VI at (800) 222 TIPS, or 911.
