ST. CROIX — A 23-year-old man was arrested on Friday on forgery and unauthorized firearm charges, after allegedly knowingly circulating counterfeit checks that were created with accurate account information of local businesses, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Monday.
The force’s Economic Crime Unit (ECU) initiated an investigation on February 3, and on March 10 at approximately 3:09 p.m., Special Operations officers joined ECU in executing a search and arrest warrant for the suspect, named Jahmar Frederick (seen above left).
Mr. Frederick was arrested on multiple charges, including obtaining money by false pretense, passing forged bills or notes, grand larceny, identity theft, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of ammunition, according to police.
Unable to make bail of $75,000, the suspect was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advise-of-right hearing.
