Man Shot Multiple Times While Driving, Dies On Spot

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / June 18, 2017

ST. THOMAS — A man died on the spot after being shot multiple times on Saturday while operating a Jeep Wrangler, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Sunday.

According to Mr. Dratte, citing a police report, on Saturday at approximately 5:54 p.m., residents living near Scott Free Road called 911 and reported rapid gunfire on the highway.

Minutes later, another call to 911 was placed, with a resident reporting that a Jeep Wrangler had struck a wall and appeared to have an unresponsive male in the vehicle.

Upon responding officers’ arrival to the scene, contact was made with the victim — a black male who was in the driver’s seat — and police observed that the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body.

Emergency medical technicians reported that the male had no vital signs of life, and that he had succumbed to his gunshot wounds on the scene.

The victim was identified as 32-year-old Jahkima Moore of Scott Free Rd., according to police.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrator (s) to call the force at (340)774-2211 or the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340)714-9807.
