ST. CROIX — The third suspect allegedly involved in last month’s East End Road rape incident has been captured in North Carolina, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced this afternoon.
According to Mr. Dratte, the suspect, 22–year-old Hubert Wyliss Lee Jr., who also goes by the moniker “blackest”, was arrested by the U.S. Marshall Service in North Carolina today. He was immediately charged with first-degree rape, carrying or using a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a motor vehicle, and first-degree robbery.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and is awaiting extradition back to St. Croix.
Earlier this month, Police Commissioner Delroy Richards revealed that the suspect’s info had been inserted in the National Crime Information Center (N.C.I.C.); a computerized index of criminal justice information (i.e.- criminal record history information, fugitives, stolen properties, missing persons), with both local and federal authorities having copies of the case.
The incident took place on the East End Road, according to police. Two females were driving when suddenly a white double cab truck rear-ended them, prompting the victims to stop the vehicle. One female stepped out of the vehicle and was taken by the three assailants elsewhere and raped. The second victim managed to escape, according to police.
