Man Arrested For Sexual Assault

ST. CROIX — Police on Wednesday arrested a man for sexual assault after he was accused of touching a female victim in her private area without permission, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Thursday.

The suspect, 18-year-old Akeem Javois, above, was arrested and charged for first-degree unlawful sexual contact at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The incident was reported to the 911 emergency call center on Monday by a resident on the behalf of the victim, according to Mr. Dratte. Mr. Javois is accused of touching the victim in her genital area without permission.

Unable to make bail of $10,000, Mr. Javois was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.
