ST. CROIX — Moments following a press conference at the V.I.P.D.’s Mars Hill complex in Frederiksted, where Territorial Chief of Police Winsbut McFarland along with detectives sought the community’s assistance in locating Lyana Serieux and her two boys, the bodies of two minor males were found at the Ha’Penny Beach by a landscaper who was cutting grass using a tractor, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte confirmed to The Consortium this afternoon.
Officers also found a burned vehicle believed to be that of Ms. Serieux in the Lower Love area on Monday night, according to updated information provided by the V.I.P.D. at the press conference. The force is now treating the case as a criminal investigation, with Chief McFarland confirming that police were following some leads.
The bodies were found at 11:35 a.m., according to Mr. Dratte. He said the bodies were found “badly decomposed.” Mr. Dratte also confirmed that police officers were still searching for Ms. Serieux.
A second press conference is being held today at the V.I.P.D.’s Mars Hill headquarters in Frederiksted, in the police commissioner’s conference room at 3:00 p.m. The Consortium will attempt to carry the event live on its Facebook platform.
