Relative to the stabbing incident, according to Mr. Dratte, at about 1:14 p.m. on Saturday, the 911 emergency call center received a call from a citizen in regards to a stabbing on the horse track.

Upon the arrival of officers to the Clinton Phipps Race Track in Nadir, an unresponsive male was found lying on his back covered in blood near the facility’s concession. The victim died as a result of injuries sustained from the assault, Mr. Dratte said.

Police were able to arrest a suspect, identified as 47-year-old Dane McIntosh, who was apprehended within two and a half hours following the initial call to 911, Mr. Dratte said. The suspect was still within the vicinity of the horse track when he was apprehended.

Also in St. Thomas, a Caucasian woman on Friday was found dead at her home in Mandahl with a gunshot would to her head, in what appeared to be a self-inflicted wound, according to Mr. Dratte.
