FEMA Public Assistance Funds Available To Eligible Government Departments, Semi-Autonomous Agencies And Certain Private Non-Profit Organizations

Community Center / News / Virgin Islands / September 26, 2017
The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency has invited all government departments and semi-autonomous agencies which sustained damages as a result of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, to attend the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance Grant Applicants’ Briefing on Thursday, September 28 at the Charlotte Amalie High School auditorium from 10:00 a.m. -12 noon.

According to a VITEMA release, FEMA Public Assistance grant provides funds to eligible government departments and semiautonomous agencies for the restoration of public roads and facilities following a Presidential disaster declaration. Certain private non-profits (PNPs) could be eligible for assistance if they can provide an IRS letter of 501 (c),(d) or (e) tax exemption or documentation from the territory which certifies that the organization is a non-profit, non-revenue producing entity. Additionally, the PNP must also provide an essential government service.

The applicant briefing will provide a program overview, eligibility, and procurement requirements. At the end of the briefing, applicants will have the opportunity to submit a Request for Public Assistance which will initiate the funding application process. Due to space restrictions, we ask that you limit your organization’s attendance to no more than 2 people.
