Police Identify Man Found Dead Days After Going Missing

ST. CROIX– Police have identified a man who was found dead in La Grange, Frederiksted, days after he went missing last week, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

The man was identified as 67-year-old Joseph Mark Graffis, Mr. Dratte revealed. He said police have classified the incident as a homicide.

In Mr. Dratte’s initial release, which cited a police report, the victim was reported missing on Thursday by a concerned resident, who traveled to the Francis Command Zone B in Frederiksted at 3:00 p.m. to file a report and to request a welfare check on the missing individual.

Officers traveled to La Grange and discovered the remains of a Caucasian male, with what appeared to be bullet wounds to his body, Mr. Dratte said.

Mr. Dratte described the investigation as active. And he asked anyone with information about the homicide to contact the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211. You may also contact Crime Stoppers USVI with a anonymous tip here.
