St. John — Governor Albert Bryan on Monday announced Shikima Jones as administrator of St. John, an announcement that completes the administration’s selections for administrator for each island. On St. Croix, former Senator Sammuel Sanes is the administrator, and on St. Thomas, educator Avery Lewis is serving in the role.
The announcement was made late Monday night; Ms. Jones started her work Monday morning.
According to Government House, Ms. Jones, a St. John resident and longtime advocate for youth, is a former acting administrator of parks and recreation at the Department of Sports, Parks, and Recreation. She has more than 20 years experience in public administration including three years with the office of then-St. John Administrator Jamie Dalmida. She is also a former youth coordinator with the Office of then-Governor Roy L. Schneider, the release said.
“I am excited to announce Shikima Jones as our administrator for St. John. I have seen first hand Ms. Jones’s advocacy for the St. John community and her energy and passion for resolving the longstanding issues with road repairs, waste management, and trash hauling, and removal of abandoned vehicles is inspiring and aligns perfectly with the priorities of the Bryan-Roach administration. The Lieutenant Governor and I appreciate her accepting the call to serve the people of St. John,” Mr. Bryan said, according to Government House.
