With their faces covered with t-shirts and and weapons in hand, three armed men attempted to rob a Mid Island Credit Union Friday on St. Croix and failed, instead they attacked an employee and demanded money.
According to a statement from the V.I.P.D., the three men demanded that money be released to them from the Credit Union and proceeded to ask employees for the safe’s location. The employees told the suspects that there was no safe in this Credit Union and so no money was stored in the building. With disbelief, the suspects made their way to the employees area and searched for money. They found nothing. In the commotion, one of the suspects hit an employee on her head with a gun. The suspects also stole money and a mobile device from a female teller and a female customer.
The suspects fled the scene in a red sedan.
