Man Dies After Being Shot Multiple Times In Mount Pleasant West

ST. CROIX — A man was gunned down in Mount Pleasant West on Thursday night, bringing the territory’s homicide count to 13 for this year, with 6 in St. Thomas and 7 in St. Croix.

According to V.I.P.D. Pubic Information Officer Glen Dratte, at about 9:27 p.m. last night, a concerned resident reported to 911 that gunshots had been fired in the Mount Pleasant West housing community, which is located across from Plaza Extra West.

Upon the officers’ arrival to the location, they met a black male lying unresponsive on the ground. Emergency medical technicians on the scene examined the victim but found no vital signs.

The victim was identified by next of kin as 25-year-old Raheem Springer.

Mr. Dratte said the incident is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrator to contact the V.I.P.D. at 340-778-2211, or send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
