Allegations by the Donastorg-Torres gubernatorial team that the August 2nd, 2014 Democratic primary election was rife with problems: from questions pertaining to ballot security following the election, whether the Elections System made the right call to move forward with the election when a tropical storm was passing through the territory in tandem, and whether voters were honest in the amount of ballots they cast, will be issued a response soon by V.I. Elections System Supervisor Caroline Fawkes, however there’s expected to be no change to the August 2nd results, Elections System administrative assistant Angel Bolques has confirmed.
Bolques said that Fawkes would likely respond to Donastorg’s concerns in a written letter.
The path forward looks almost impossible for the Donastorg-Torres team since the allegations are not backed up with concrete evidence of wrongdoing, and the final say as it relates to pushing forward with elections in inclement weather rests with the Joint Board of Elections.
We’ve reached out to former Senator Donastorg and will update this story if he responds.
