Man Hospitalized After Being Shot In Coki Point

ST. THOMAS — A man was found lying injured on public road in Coki Point in the wee hours of Sunday morning, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

According to police, at approximately 12:25 a.m., officers stationed at the Mariel C. Newton Command responded to reports of an unknown individual lying on the public roadway in the area of Coki Point.

Upon officers’ arrival, they observed a black unknown male who had sustained a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. The victim was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment, where he was in stable condition as of Sunday afternoon.

The incident is under investigation by the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.
