ST. CROIX — Edward Paul, wanted for the murder of 37-year-old Carlos Enriquez Diaz who was shot to death in the early hours of Saturday morning, has been captured by the V.I.P.D., according to Glen Dratte, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer.
Mr. Paul, who goes by the moniker “Eggnog”, was arrested Sunday in Estate Tulipan Welcome. He was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, reckless endangerment, and aiming and discharging a firearm.
With no bail granted, Mr. Paul was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending his advisement hearing.
Saturday homicide
Mr. Diaz was shot multiple times in the upper body in the wee hours of Saturday morning, resulting in his death.
The 911 emergency call center received notification of the shooting at about 3:30 a.m. outside Joanna’s Bar in La Grande Princesse, which is located across from Quality Subs. The victim was rushed to the Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance, but succumbed to his injuries at the medial facility.
The deceased was identified by next of kin.
The V.I.P.D. said an active investigation was launched into the homicide by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
