The Bryan administration said in a release Friday that it would implement pay raises given by former Governor Kenneth Mapp. The salary increases were given by the former governor through an executive order, which was later codified by the Senate — meaning the new governor had to abide by the law.
The administration, citing the Office of Collective Bargaining and the Office of Management and Budget, said government departments and agencies were in the final stages of implementing the pay raises.
It further stated that the increases are retroactive to October 1, 2018, and each gov’t department and agency must process miscellaneous pay for the retroactive monies owed to employees.
Government House said out of the 21 departments and agencies included in the collective bargaining agreements negotiated increases, O.M.B. has provided supplemental funding to 17 so far, per Act No. 8123. Additionally, O.M.B. continues to assist the remaining departments in processing their negotiated increases, the administration said.
Government arms already being processed are as follows:
- V.I. Police Department
- V.I. Fire Service
