ST. THOMAS — Prisoners and federal court employees were temporarily evacuated Wednesday after a propane leak was reported at the nearby Alexander Farrelly Justice Complex.
Veterans Drive in the vicinity of the federal complex was closed to traffic from about 2:25 p.m. yesterday until the all-clear was given about 15 minutes later.
The Virgin Islands fire Department and the VI Police Department controlled traffic during the incident. Traffic jams extended into the Yacht Haven Grande and Waterfront areas.
Witnesses reported prisoners were observed lined up and being monitored near the legislative building.
