Customers At Miriam’s Bar In C’sted Robbed At Gunpoint, Lose Over $35,000 In Jewelry and Cash

News / Virgin Islands / October 8, 2014

Three men having drinks at Miriam’s Bar and Restaurant in Christiansted were robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday night by two slender male suspects, who made away with cash and jewelry, including a Rolex watch costing more than $35,000, police spokeswoman Melody Rames said.

The robbery took place at about 11 p.m., when witnesses say two men, wearing black clothing and black masks over their faces, demanded the three victims hand over their cash and jewelry. One suspect carried an assault rifle, while the other brandished a handgun.

After plundering the three male victims, the suspects fled the scene, but not before warning the victims not to pursue them and threatening to shoot if they did. Even so, while escaping, one suspect fired shots after the victims.

There were two employees at the bar when the incident happened. The men were about 6 feet tall with low haircuts.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau on St. Croix are investigating the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 911 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
