Woman Kidnapped By Ex-Boyfriend At Home Depot, Escapes At Sunny Isle Stoplight

News / Virgin Islands / October 14, 2014

Enrique Schuster of St. Croix was arrested on Kidnapping Domestic Violence charges on Tuesday, after holding his ex-girlfriend against her will, police spokesperson Melody Rames has revealed.

According to detectives, on June 10, Schuster saw his ex-girlfriend in the Home Depot parking lot and proceeded to invite her into his vehicle. The woman willingly got into the vehicle, but when she asked to be let out, Schuster would not release her; instead, he sped off with the victim inside.

Schuster drove until he arrived at the Sunny Isle stoplight, where the victim managed to escape from the car and sought help.

Schuster denied holding the woman against her will; however, police said video surveillance and statements from several witnesses align with her version of events.

The arrest was made at about 12:40 p.m. today and bail was set at $50,000 by the Superior Court judge.
