St. Croix Man Shot Dead At Sunny Isles Gas Station

Breaking News / Featured / News / Virgin Islands / April 11, 2015

ST. CROIX — Terrance Moorehead, age 55 of Pepper Tree Terrace was shot to death by an unknown assailant in the wee hours of Saturday morning at a gas station located in Sunny Isles, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.

According to Jackson, at around 2:11 a.m. this morning, the 911 emergency call center received a report of a male who ran into the Super Tanker Service Station located in Sunny Isles, indicating that he was shot and that he needed medical assistance.

When officers arrived on the scene, Moorehead was only able to say that he was shot in the area of the service station before he was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center’s (JFL) emergency room by ambulance.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Moorhead had driven into the service station in a white Dodge truck, entered the convenience store and purchased an item. Moorehead then returned to his vehicle and at some point, stepped out of the truck and walked over to the northern side of the service station. Then, a gun shot was heard and Moorehead came running back into the convenience store, saying that he’d been shot and requested medical attention.

The ambulance arrived at the service station and transported Moorehead to JFL’s emergency room, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Anyone with information concerning this homicide can call 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
