ST. CROIX — A 27-year-old man was shot while exiting Bethlehem Village & Profit Hills, (commonly referred to as Harvey), and was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center for Treatment, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced today.
According to Jackson, on Monday at about 1:45 p.m., the 911 emergency call center received notification of a gunshot victim located at a Williams Delight residence.
Arriving at the location, officers met with the victim, who said he was driving out of the area when he suddenly heard shots fired at his vehicle, which sustained damage from the gunfire. The victim stated that he didn’t see anyone in the immediate vicinity when the shots rang out.
Officers and members of the Forensic Unit cordoned off and examined the area of Bethlehem Village & Profit Hills where the victim was shot and were able to gather several spent shell casings. They also spoke with various individuals in the area, but were unable to glean any information regarding the incident.
The victim of the shooting was treated for a gunshot wound to the lower shin.
The incident is under investigation by Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
