Voting On GESC Group Health Insurance Board Starts On Tuesday

ST. THOMAS – Government employees past and present can cast their ballot for the Government Employees Service Commission Group Health Insurance Board representative of their choice on Tuesday.

On St. Thomas, six candidates are vying for the position and on St. Croix three candidates are on the ballot.

Government employees can vote by logging on to www.dopusvi.org and clicking on the “VOTE” tab or by telephone by calling 1-(877) 800-6160 and following the prompts.

Voters will be prompted to enter their date of birth and the last four digits of their social security number with no spaces in between, for example (010119711234).

The voting window opens April 21, 2015 at 12:01 a.m. and will close at noon on April 22, 2015.

The candidates for St. Thomas are: Dr. Gilbert Comissiong of Schneider Regional; Stella Saunders of the Waste Management Authority; Cheryl Comissiong George of Labor; Andre T. Dorsey of Fire Services; Rick S. Grant of Human Services; and Lori D. Anderson, retiree representative.

On St. Croix the candidates are: Beverly Joseph of the Lt. Governor’s Office; Gonzalo Rivera of Human Services and Adelbert “Bert” Bryan, retiree representative.

“This is an opportunity for all government employees and retirees covered by the group health insurance program to actively take part in the elections by casting their vote for the candidate of their choice,” said Milton Potter, the Director of the Division of Personnel.

According to Virgin Islands law, the two board representatives, one from St. Thomas and one from St. Croix, are to be democratically chosen by government employees.
