Mapp Returns To Territory Today, Sets June 17 Press Conference

Featured / Government / News / Politics / Virgin Islands / June 12, 2015

ST. CROIX — Governor Kenneth Mapp is set to return to the territory today after a 12-day trip away from the islands for events in Guam and Florida, and will hit the ground running with an array of events.

Government House announced on Thursday a June 17 press conference to be held on St. Croix, and although details of the event haven’t been made available, the chief executive is expected to give an overview of his trip, discuss corrective measures the government is taking to save the SeaView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Facility, and news on the impending HOVENSA deal.

Mapp will also be attending an array of school graduation events, and the opening of the St. John festival on June 21.

The very important issue of the governor’s cabinet nominees will also be on the agenda, as 11 of them were rejected by the Senate over a salary impasse. The governor renominated the candidates the same day they were voted down, and vacated his Estate Nazareth $14,500 monthly rental before leaving for Guam.

VI Consortium will be present at June 17 the press conference.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
