Decision Day 2018 is upon us, and thousands of Virgin Islanders are expected to go out and vote for the candidates of their choice in today’s general election. Up for the taking are Senate seats as well as the highest office in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Office of the Governor.
Polls have predicted a runoff, with no candidate getting the requisite 50 plus 1 percent needed to clinch victory. A bigger mystery is who will come out atop in what many expect to be a three-way contest between the top teams: Governor Kenneth Mapp, and the Donastorg-Hansen and Bryan-Roach teams.
Whatever the results, The Consortium will be bringing live, full play-by-play coverage directly from our studio in Five Corners. The Consortium will also have live coverage from four locations: the Elections System office on St. Croix, where the votes will be tallied, the Donastorg-Hansen headquarters which is near Joe’s Restaurant on St. Croix, the Bryan-Roach headquarters, located in Estate La Reine, and Governor Mapp’s headquarters in Peter’s Rest.
Our correspondents on the ground will get live feedback from the campaigns, as they attempt to get a sense of the mood before, during, and after the numbers have been tallied.
The Consortium’s Ashley Scotland, co-host of the Virgin Islands Political Consortium, will be joined by seven other individuals in the studio bringing analysis.
Ernice Gilbert will be positioned at the Election Systems office, where a number of interviews will be conducted, including with winning and losing senatorial teams.
Join us beginning at 6:30 p.m. The live broadcast coverage will be available on our website and Facebook page.
