ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections Director-designee Rick T. Mullgrav confirmed the arrest of Corrections Officer Odessa Simon that occurred on Tuesday, August 4, according to a press release BOC issued on Thursday.
Simon, who is assigned to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility on St. Croix, has been charged with grand larceny.
Officer Simon has been placed on administrative leave pending the resolution of criminal procedures, the release further stated. Director Mullgrav, who’s said to be “dismayed” by the situation, said, “While the incident occurred outside of the realm of the Bureau, we will cooperate and support the efforts of the VI Police Department’s ongoing investigation into the charges lodged against Officer Simon. It is our hope that a thorough discovery of the particulars will lead to an immediate conclusion of the matter.”
The press release did not give any further details in relation to the charges.
