Man Rushed To Juan Luis After Sustaining Multiple Gunshot Wounds In Work And Rest

News / Virgin Islands / August 12, 2015

ST. CROIX — A man who was shot on Tuesday multiple times while in a vehicle in Work & Rest was rushed to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center where he underwent emergency treatment,” VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced the same day.

According to Jackson, the 911 emergency call center received notification of gunfire being discharged in the area of Work & Rest.

Officers responded to the scene and were advised by the emergency call center that a concerned citizen in the adjoining neighborhood of Catherine’s Rest had phoned in, stating that a vehicle unknown to residents of the household was in their yard and that someone may be in the vehicle.

Following up on the secondary call, the officers discovered a GMC Jimmy in the Catherine’s Rest area, riddled with bullet holes and several shell casings on the ground.

Staff at JFL contacted the 911 emergency call center, advising that a gunshot victim had been transported to the medical facility by a private vehicle, and that the victim was being treated for multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the report, the victim of the shooting is a 24-year-old male, who has not been identified at this time. And due to the severity of the wounds the victim sustained, no information has been garnered on the events leading up to the shooting.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating the incident.
