ST. CROIX — The Department of Public Works has all but completed road repair work it commenced on September 14 on Emancipation Drive located in Frederiksted. On Friday, September 25 (the day DPW said work would be finished), the bulk of the work was completed.
The repairs stretch from the Hannah’s Rest stoplights in the vicinity of the police Headquarters to the Claude O’ Markoe Elementary School.
Motorists will no longer be faced with the many potholes that had for so long upset them, and the new repairs will serve as a small face lift to the area.
The work was also conducted at nights — from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. — in an effort to allow the free flow of traffic during the daytime.
“The goal of DPW remains that we undertake a successful project with minimal impact on the community,” DPW Commissioner Gustav James said when announcing the road closure a few weeks ago.
