Barren Spot Store Robbed At Gunpoint

Breaking News / News / Virgin Islands / October 31, 2015

ST. CROIX — Two men brandishing a firearm entered and robbed a Barren Spot store on Thursday at about 12:11 p.m., VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson made known via press release on Friday afternoon. The thieves, however, only collected $20 from the novelty store.

Citing a preliminary report of the investigation, Mr. Jackson said the two men entered the business, Parris Tees and Novelties (above), which is located in a building housing multiple businesses, brandishing the weapon and demanding money from the storekeeper. Upon collecting the $20, they fled the scene on foot.

According to Jackson, the men were described as appearing to be of Hispanic descent. The first suspect, an adult, was described as being of slim build, wearing a black t-shirt and khaki pants with a mask covering his face. The second suspect was described as being a slim, minor male also wearing a black t-shirt and in possession of a small, chrome handgun.

No one was injured during the incident and the case is being investigated by Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau.

The VIPD is asking anyone with information concerning this robbery to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-712-6037, 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.

Correction: November 1, 2015

A previous version of this article misspelled the business that was robbed because of incorrect information provided by the VIPD. The name of the store is Parris Tees and Novelties; not Paradise Tees and Novelties. The story has been updated to reflect the correct information.
