Man Shot In Castle Coakley Near Thomas Bakery

ST. CROIX — A man was shot in Castley Coakley this morning in the vicinity of Thomas Bakery, VIDP Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced via press release today.

Mr. Jackson said the 911 call center received a report of a gunshot victim who was found lying in a grassy area near the bakery at about 11:29 a.m.

According to the release, officers and detectives responded and met with the victim, a 35-year-old man, who stated that he was in the area of Thomas Bakery at roughly 4:00 a.m. when an unknown individual drove up to him in a gray Toyota Corolla, asked him what he was doing in the area and suddenly shot him in the leg. According to the victim, the unknown male then left the area, prompting the victim to hide in the bushes until morning, when he asked a resident to get help.

He was transported via ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital Emergency Room for treatment.

Detectives are continuing their investigations into the matter. And police are asking anyone with information concerning this incident to phone 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
