ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said through a press release issued this morning that the power outage that occurred at approximately 5:55 a.m. on Wednesday, was caused by the loss of unit 20 at the Richmond power plant, which resulted in a service interruption to four feeders, as unit 20 was being operated in combined cycle with generating Unit 10.
The affected feeders included: 2A, 4A, 6B and 9B. Plant operations have successfully restarted Unit 20 and should begin to pick up service to the four feeders shortly, according to the release.
