St. Croix And St. John To Be Featured On ABC’s Emmy Award-Winning ‘Rock The Park’

ST. CROIX — Department of Tourism (D.O.T.) has announced the upcoming airing of two half-hour episodes of the popular ABC Station’s program on everything related to America’s national parks, that will feature St. Croix and St. John.

Episodes of “Rock the Park”, filmed on St. Croix and St. John, will air nationally on Saturday, April 2, 2016 and Saturday April 9, according to D.O.T.

In the first episode, hosts Jack Steward and Colton Smith explore St. Croix National Park locations, including Buck Island Reef National Monument, Salt River Canyon and lagoon and Fort Christiansvaern. It will broadcast locally in the U.S. Virgin Islands this Saturday on ABC Channel 14 at 11:30 am AST (check local listing).

According to the release, D.O.T. worked closely with Tremendous! Entertainment and the “Rock the Park” production team to secure and bring the program to St. Croix and St. John, and to facilitate filming over a 10-day period this past November. The original plan was to feature only the National Park on St. John, so the shoot on St. Croix was an added bonus.

“The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism is grateful to all who assisted with the program while they were on location in the Territory,” said Beverly Nicholson-Doty, D.O.T. commissioner. “As we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, it will be great to see St. Croix and St. John broadcast into the homes of at least 1.5 million viewers and potential travelers to the USVI, showcasing the amazing landscape and diversity of experiences available.”

In the Saturday, April 9 episode, hosts Jack and Colton visit St. John. Through their lens, viewers will experience the Reef Bay Hike, windsurfing at Cinnamon Bay, night diving at Lind Point, and snorkeling at Trunk Bay. (Check local listings for exact air time.)

Both episodes will be promoted through digital and social media, positively impacting the number of viewers enjoying the sights and sounds of the very special national parks of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
