ST. THOMAS — A man from Atlanta residing in Estate Tutu was shot multiple times on Monday night in St. Thomas, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced on Tuesday.
Ms. Freeman said the 911 emergency call center received notification of the incident at 11:00 p.m., which revealed that a gunshot victim had checked in at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital (R.L.S.H.).
Upon arrival at the hospital, officers made contact with the victim, who they identified as 21-year-old Raheem Luzunaris, who had sustained multiple gunshots to the upper chest. However, Mr. Luzunaris was unable to give a statement because he had undergone emergency surgery.
Ms. Freeman said officers from the Forensic Unit and Criminal Investigations Bureau responded to the hospital and later located the crime scene just south of the J. Antonio Jarvis School.
Elsewhere here on Monday, at about 4:33 p.m., officers were dispatched by the 911 emergency call center to R.L.S.H. in regards to a victim who was stabbed on Black Point Hill.
According to Ms. Freeman, upon arrival at the hospital, officers made contact with the victim, who was identified as 56-year-old Vincent Brooks, a Guadeloupe native residing in Estate Hope.
Mr. Brooks suffered lacerations to his right hand, stomach area, and forehead. He was treated for his injuries and then released from the hospital, according to Ms. Freeman.
This incident, as the shooting on Monday, is under investigation, and police are asking anyone with details concerning any of these crimes to notify the Major Crimes Unit at 340-714-9823 ext. 5617, Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807 ext. 5556, Crime Stoppers or the Chief’s Office at 340-774-2211.
