ST. THOMAS — A woman who was attempting flight out of the territory on Friday for Dominica, was captured at the Cyril E. King Airport here and charged with multiple criminal counts, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced this afternoon.
According to police, today at approximately 9:08 a.m., officers relayed through the 911 emergency call center that they had made contact with Nadelle James, 25, in the vicinity of the Cyril E. King airport, where she was taken into custody. Ms. James was then transported to the Investigation Bureau and turned over to detectives on an assault warrant involving an incident that took place on Friday, April 29, 2016, in the area of the Illusions Night Club, located in Barbel Plaza.
According to the release, Ms. James was attempting to exit the U.S. Virgin Islands to seek refuge in Dominica; the island of her birth.
Ms. James was charged with mayhem and second degree assault. She was then read her advise-of-rights and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections.
V.I.P.D. says the case is being investigated by the Investigations Bureau. The force is also asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Investigation Bureau at (340)774-2211 at extensions 5553.
