Three Injured In St. Thomas Shooting

ST. THOMAS — Three men were injured in the wee hours of Monday morning during a shooting in St. Thomas, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

According to the release, on Monday at approximately 1:06 a.m., the 911 central dispatch received several calls about shots being fired in the area of Emerald Hill, located in the Smith Bay area.

Moments later, the 911 central dispatch received several calls that three black males were shot in the area of Emerald Hill and were being transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center by private vehicle.

Officers were notified and dispatched to travel to the hospital in reference to the three victims. Upon arrival, contact was made with Emergency Room attendants who advised the officers that all three victims had suffered several gunshot wounds to their bodies.

One of the victims stated that he and the other victims were driving home, however when they arrived in the Emerald Hill area, they heard multiple gunshots being fired at them. The individual stated that after being struck, he was able to drive the vehicle to his residence where he and the other victims received assistance from family members and were driven to the hospital, according to Mr. Dratte.

The victim concluded by stating he that had no idea who shot at them and where the shots were coming from.

All three victims were treated and were in stable condition as of Monday, Mr. Dratte said.

The V.I.P.D. said the incident remains under active investigation. The force also asked the community to assist in solving this and other crimes by calling the V.I.P.D. at 340-774-2211, or by sending an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
