ST. THOMAS — Even after St. Thomas clergy and residents gathered for a rally against violence in the Hidden Valley community and Estate Tutu on Friday, urging those involved in gun violence to put down their weapons, the violence here did not cease, as yet another young man, age 22, was killed late Saturday in what has been described by police as another gun-related homicide.

News of the incident was first relayed to The Consortium by a well-placed source, and was later confirmed upon inquiry by V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte.

Mr. Dratte said that at approximately 11:03 p.m. on Saturday, several residents called the 911 emergency call center reporting shots fired in the area of First Stop Gas Station In Estate Thomas. Upon arrival to the scene, officers made contact with an unresponsive male, later identified as 22-year-old Caseam Daniel, who had been shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

No other information was given, and police say the homicide is under investigation by the V.I.P.D.’s Homicide Task Force. Police are also asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators, to call the task force at 340-774-2211 ext. 5617 and 5514, 911, Crime Stoppers V.I., the chief’s office at 340-715-5548 or the commissioner’s office at 340-715-5506.
