Breaking News / Crime / Top Stories / Virgin Islands / September 27, 2016

ST. CROIX — A minor told police that he was shot in his shoulder on Monday night while playing basketball in Estate Glynn, Police Commissioner Delroy Richards confirmed to The Consortium this morning.

According to the commissioner, at about 8:20 last night, the 911 emergency call center alerted officers of shots being discharged in Estate Glynn. Officers later found out that the minor had traveled to the Juan F. Luis Hospital emergency room for treatment. Police then followed up with the victim at the hospital for more details.

The minor said that he was on the Estate Glynn basketball court when two black males approached him brandishing handguns, robbed him of his gold chain and shot him in the shoulder.

Police are continuing their investigation into the matter, Mr. Richards said. And they are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of perpetrators involved in last night’s incident and the others that have yet to be solved, to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-712-6024 / 712-6037, 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
