ST. CROIX — A man told police that he crashed into a wall on Friday afternoon at about 3:00 p.m. in Strawberry, after being shot by an unknown assailant, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has confirmed to The Consortium.

The victim, who survived the shooting, was taken to the hospital for treatment, Mr. Dratte said. 

The victim said after the vehicle crashed into the wall, he got out of it and started running to safety. He further told police that he had no idea as to why he was shot, or why someone would shoot him.

The V.I.P.D. said the incident was under investigation as of Saturday, and urged anyone with information to call 340-778-2211, or contact Crime Stoppers USVI with an anonymous tip here.
