Man In Critical Condition After Being Shot In The Head In St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas man who was shot in the head survived the incident and was being treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

The shooting, whose perpetrator the V.I.P.D. has not identified, occurred in the wee hours of Sunday morning at about 1:39 a.m. in the area of Banco Popular in Altona, between the roadways of Veteran’s Drive and Harwood Highway, according to police.

V.I.P.D. patrol units traveled to the scene and found the victim lying on the ground next to a bicycle and appeared at the time to be unresponsive. After being transported to the hospital, however, physicians said the man still had vital signs and was being treated. As of Monday morning, he was in critical condition.

The case is being investigated by the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, Mr. Dratte said.
