The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency’s 911 Emergency Communications Center is reporting that strong waves are currently impacting the coastal area along the west side of St. Croix, including Strand Street, which runs along the Frederiksted waterfront, a press release VITEMA issued today has made known.
As 11 a.m., the VI Police Department has blocked off Strand Street, ending at the Buddhoe Park in Frederiksted.
Pedestrians are advised to avoid the Frederiksted waterfront area if possible or to proceed with extreme caution in the area. Motorists are also advised to seek an alternate route and to proceed with caution in the downtown Frederiksted area.
