Former Governor John P. de Jongh To Speak On Territory’s Economy At Opening Session Of UVI-Cell Real Estate Course

ST. THOMAS — Former Governor John P. de Jongh will be a guest speaker at the opening session of a course sponsored by the University of the Virgin Islands’s Cell Center along with Real Impact Corporation, LLC and SVN International Corporation, which is being held to provide the community training for the real estate industry.

The course will introduce the community to the commercial side of the real estate market. It is open to property owners, real estate agents, brokers or anyone who would like to get basic knowledge of how to list, sell, and lease various types of investment properties. The curriculum focuses on the general environment of commercial real estate and includes valuation, environmental issues, selling, listing and leasing activities.

Mr. de Jongh will provide an overview of the Virgin Islands economy during the opening session at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18 (courses run from Oct. 18-27, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays). The presenters for the course are Thomas McMahon, managing director of SVN Commercial Real Estate and Jerry Dawson, managing director of SVN/JCDawson Global Real Estate.

Sessions will be held at the UVI-CELL Center in St. Thomas.

The course was developed and is being underwritten by SVN International Corporation and Real Impact Corporation, LLC. It is being administered by the UVICELL Center.
