ST. CROIX — A man was stabbed on Saturday near Plaza Extra West while walking on a sidewalk heading north to Esate Grove Place, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced on Monday. According to a tip sent in to The Consortium on Saturday, the incident occurred after 7:00 p.m.

According to Mr. Dratte, the male victim told police officers that while walking on the sidewalk heading north, a vehicle stopped near him, and an unknown male suspect came out the vehicle and stabbed him with an unknown object. The suspect them went back into the vehicle and sped off.

The victim told police that he had no clue why someone would want to stab him, and that he did not know who perpetrated the criminal act.

The victim sustained a puncture to his abdominal area, according to police. He was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital’s emergency room for treatment, and is currently undergoing surgery, according to a family member who reached out to The Consortium.

Police are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of criminals to contact the Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5579 and 5557. Residents can also contact 911, or Crime Stoppers, where tipsters get monetary rewards for successful leads.
