ST. THOMAS — A retired police officer was arrested on Wednesday after police identified him as the suspect who had allegedly assaulted his wife on October 24, and fired shots outside the house of a neighbor on October 26, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman told this publication this morning.
According to Ms. Freeman, the former officer, 48-year-old Tracy Richardson, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault domestic violence for striking his wife in the face with a closed fist; causing injury to the right side of her chin. Mr. Richardson had entered the residence and damaged multiple items before leaving and then returning to strike his wife.
The retired officer was also charged with third-degree assault and illegal discharge of a firearm, after he allegedly pointed a gun to the head of a neighbor — who Ms. Freeman told The Consortium was most likely attempting to intervene in the matter — firing several shots outside the victim’s residence.
No bail was set for Mr. Richardson in accordance with the territory’s domestic violence laws. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
