ST. CROIX — A homeless man was found dead on this island Sunday at about 5:02 p.m. north of the Peter’s Rest Waste Management Authority Convenience Center, underneath a tree, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced late Monday.
A Consortium reporter was near the scene while police were investigating the report. The scene included at least three police vehicles and multiple personnel, as well as one EMS vehicle. The man was found lifeless and face down on a chair by a police officer conducting regular patrols.
After being tested by emergency medical technicians, the man, who police have identified as Juanito Rosario, age 35 from Vieques, Puerto Rico, was transported by morgue attendants to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and was pronounced dead at 6:31 p.m.
According to Mr. Dratte, a family member acknowledged that Mr. Rosario had suffered from seizures.
Although police have ruled out foul play, they are still asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of individuals suspected of perpetrating criminal acts to contact 911, or Crime Stoppers USVI, where your tip may net you a payday.
