St. Croix Small Fry All Stars Earns Second Place In PR Invitational Basketball Tourney

ST. CROIX — The St. CroixSmall Fry AllStars Basketball team recently returned from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, capping off a successful weekend placing second in the 2017 Puerto Rico Small Fry Invitational Tournament held from January 13-16, 2017, according to a press release issued Wednesday.

The team finished with a record of 4-1 with wins over Guaynabo Mets (37-34), CIAPR (46- 45), Torrimar (30-23), and Corozal (30-23). Unfortunately, despite a hard defensive effort, the St. Croix team lost a tough game in the finals to Rexville BC Puerto Rico 37-32. A total of 10 teams participated in the tournament. The St. Croix All Stars were coached by Jose Gonzalez, Raymond Cornelius and Robert Molloy.

In preparation for the Small Fry International Tournament, the St. Croix All Stars will be traveling to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, on March 24, 2017, to participate in the 2017 Small Fry Paradise Showdown. The International Championship Tournament will be held in Orlando, Florida, from April 10-13, 2017.

Small Fry Basketball is a developmental and highly competitive youth basketball program for players no taller than 5-foot-1 and not older than 12 years of age as of September 1st immediately prior to the competition season.
