This Is What The Suspected Rapist In St. Thomas Looks Like

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / February 4, 2017

ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Police Department is currently investigating a series of sexual assaults that have occurred in the East End area of St. Thomas. The attacks appear to be possibly connected to a number of sexual assaults that occurred in the vicinity of Estate Frydenhoj between August 15, 2016 and January 24, 2017.

The suspect, seen here, is described as a Black male, approximately 5ft. 5inches, between 18-25 years of age and weighs about 125-130 lbs. He has a Caribbean accent, slim built, no beard, flat nose, low haircut and slight mustache.

According to previous incidents, the sexual assaults have been taking place inside of an apartment or a single family residence. In each of these cases, the female victim was reported alone in and outside the residence. The suspect has entered each residence through an unlocked door or awaits the victim outside the residence, according to police.

The V.I.P.D. says it would like residents to keep the following safety tips in mind to lessen the possibility of becoming a victim of home invasion or rape:

  • If you have a glass sliding door, place a metal pole or strong stick on the tracks of the door, no matter how much someone jolts or pulls the door, it will not open.
  • If you’re moving into a new apartment, request for your locks to be changed. Other individuals may have a copy without your knowledge
  • Be aware of what you put on social media. Information can disclose your location to the wrong individuals.
  • A great way to discourage intruders is to make them think you’re not alone
  • Always have some means of personal self-defense. There are individuals that specialize in the instruction of women’s self-defense.
  • Always lock your doors when you’re home, especially if you’re alone.
  • Be aware of your environment at all times, especially at night or when alone.
  • Always have your keys at hand when entering your car or your residence.
  • Don’t make your home easily accessible for prowlers by leaving chairs, ladders, or any object that can be used as a tool to jump on or hop over into your residence.
  • Always do whatever you need to make yourself safe and secure. No one should ever be a victim of any crime.

If you have any information regarding these incidents, contact the V.I.P.D. at 340-774-2211 or the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807. You can also remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers USVI here, or at 1-800-222-8477. You can also dial 911.
