ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department is on the hunt for a man named Jacobo Garcia, who the force said in a recent release assaulted a family member with a punch in the face and other physical abuses.

V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte told The Consortium this morning that the suspect remains on the loose, even as the wanted notice has been out for a few days.

Mr. Garcia, 44, who is wanted on a third-degree assault charge, is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, has black hair and a brown complexion. Mr. Garcia is also a former professional boxer and frequents the Anna’s Hope and Estate Profit areas, according to police.

Police are asking residents who may come into contact with Mr. Garcia to approach him with caution and immediately contact 911 or the V.I.P.D. Domestic Violence Unit at 340-778-2211.
